Pull-Out Ceremony Held for Assistant Commissioner Georgina Lamisi Tibanye in Tamale

A colourful pull-out ceremony has been held in honour of Assistant Commissioner Georgina Lamisi Tibanye, the outgoing Sector Commander of the Tamale Collection of the Customs Division, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Assistant Commissioner Tibanye, who made history as the first woman to head the Tamale Collection, was celebrated for her exemplary leadership, outstanding revenue performance, and infrastructural initiatives during her tenure.

The event, held on Friday, November 7, brought together dignitaries, officers of sister security agencies, and staff of the Customs Division, all of whom paid glowing tribute to her commitment, professionalism, and contributions to strengthening revenue mobilization in the northern sector.
Remarkable Revenue Achievements
In her farewell address, Assistant Commissioner Tibanye reflected on the progress made under her leadership, noting that despite initial setbacks in 2022, the team worked tirelessly to surpass their targets.

According to her, the Collection ended 2022 with a negative deviation of 66%, but this did not discourage management from raising their target from below 22% to 25%.
“We were able to increase our target from 20 million to 27.1 million, and we ended the year exceeding our target by 76.54%,” she said.
She noted that since then, the Tamale Collection had consistently met and exceeded its revenue targets.
“In 2024, we were given a target of 53.42 million, and we exceeded it by 34.27%,” she stated.
For the year 2025, the Collection was assigned a challenge target of 115.22 million Ghana cedis and a budget target of 91.17 million.
“As of the end of October, the sector has collected 90.44 million, missing the budget target by just 0.7321 million, representing 0.8%,” she revealed. She added confidently that her team was capable of meeting the outstanding 26.85 million needed to achieve the challenge target, especially after recording 18 million cedis in October alone.
Ensuring Public Safety
Beyond revenue mobilization, she highlighted the Collection’s role in trade facilitation and public safety, noting several arrests made during her tenure.
“Our warehouse is full with seized illicit cigarettes, drugs, cyanide, ethanol, rice, and others—some of which cannot be converted into revenue,” she disclosed.
Appeal for Improved Infrastructure
Assistant Commissioner Tibanye also emphasized the infrastructural challenges confronting the Tamale Collection.
“When I arrived in October 2022, I met an uncompleted office complex that was expected to be completed by December that year. Today, that building remains uncompleted,” she lamented.

She added that the Collection previously had a guest house, but it had to be abandoned due to structural defects. She called on stakeholders to support efforts to improve infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency.
