Cuban Ambassador pays working visit to Tamale Mayor

The Cuban ambassador to Ghana, H.E Annete Chao Garcia has on Monday January 17,2022, paid a working visit to the mayor of Tamale, Mr. Sule Salifu.

Her visit to the region which is the first of its kind is to officially provide six (6) Cuban  Doctors to support in the healthcare delivery at the Tamale Teaching Hospital based on the hospital’s request.

In her submission the Cuban ambassador to Ghana noted that there are currently a total of 279 Ghanaians resident in Cuba studying medicine and they’ll soon be back to serve this country upon the completion of their studies .

H. E Annete Chao Garcia  is hopeful Cuba will in the future extend its support base in Ghana to cover other areas such as education, cultural and other socioeconomic activities.

She is meanwhile sure the meeting is going to be the beginning of a very great relation between her office and the Tamale metropolitan assembly.

The Director Incharge of External Health Cooperation at the Ministry of health, Dr. Hafez Adam Taher accompanied the ambassador to the region on her first visit.

Dr. Hafez Adam revealed that Cuban doctors will soon be taking their services beyond the wards into public health and preventive measures.

He further added that Tamale will soon be privileged to have a factory which will produce larvicide for malaria control in the country and on the side will also be the production of biological fertilizer for agricultural purposes which will help boost food production.

The mayor upon an appeal for some support to be extended to the Tamale central hospital was urged to make a formal request and forwarded to the office of the Cuban ambassador for further consideration.

Mr. Sule Salifu expressed gratitudes to the Cuban government through its ambassador for placing priority on the healthcare needs of Ghanaians and always willing to support with some Human Resources.

He further indicated the assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the Cuban embassy to help provide healthcare services to the people of Tamale and beyond.
