MTN Ghana Supports Tamale Central Mosque with Generous Eid Donation

Ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations this weekend, MTN Ghana has donated items and cash to the Tamale Central Mosque in support of the Muslim community.

The donation package included assorted drinks, bottled water, a ram, cooking oil, rice, and a cash amount of GHS 10,000.

Speaking at the presentation, Mohammad Shayawu noted that the initiative forms part of MTN Ghana’s annual Ramadan outreach, emphasizing the importance of the holy period as a time for spiritual reflection and renewal among Muslims. He explained that the company’s goal is not centered on the monetary value of the items, but rather on sharing in the joy and celebration with its Muslim customers and the broader community.

He added that the donation exercise is carried out across four key locations—Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale—with the Tamale event scheduled separately this year due to logistical reasons.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Regional Chief Imam, Abdulai Habibu Mohammed, Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its consistent support over the past six years.

“MTN has been supporting us for the past six years, and we are grateful that they continue to keep us in their thoughts. Their contributions show they care about the Muslim community,” he said.

He further noted that the donation would significantly support underprivileged Muslims, particularly those who may face financial difficulties in celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
