I am not perturbed if Asante Kotoko management want to sack me – Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has responded to growing reports suggesting that his future at the club is in doubt due to his inconsistent performance.

The Porcupine Warriors dropped two crucial points against relegation-threatened Berekum Chelsea on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium during the Matchday 18 games.

The results mean Kotoko are now six points adrift of league leaders Medeama.

Prior to the game, media reports emerged suggesting that the club is discussing the future of Zito.

Speaking to the media after the match, Zito acknowledged the rumours but insisted he remains calm and unfazed.

“I can’t speak about tomorrow because, as you’ve mentioned, there are reports that management wants me out. These recent results have made the situation more difficult, so if that is truly their intention, then the opportunity has presented itself now,” he said.

Despite the pressure, the experienced coach was quick to stress that he had received no official communication from the club regarding his position.

“I am free to go to Nsawam today. Throughout my coaching career, I have never been sacked, and I have neither seen nor heard anything from management suggesting they intend to appoint a new coach. Until the people who brought me here officially ask me to leave, I am not concerned about what is being said or reported on social media.” Zito added.

Karim Zito will hope to guide his side back to winning ways when they travel to play Bibiani GoldStars in the Matchday 19 games at the DUN’s Park on Sunday.
