Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare among nominees for January Goalkeeper of the Month award

The Ex-National Goalkeepers Union has announced four nominees for the Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month Award for January after a run of assured performances across the Ghana Premier League.

Among the shortlisted shot stoppers is Hearts of Oak captain Benjamin Asare, who enjoyed an outstanding month between the posts. Asare kept clean sheets in all three league matches he played, helping Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten with two wins and a draw. His influence proved decisive despite featuring in fewer matches, as the Phobians climbed to third on the league table.

Also nominated is Benjamin Kwesi Asiedu of Bechem United. Asiedu recorded three clean sheets in four appearances, guiding his side to three victories while conceding only two goals during the month.

Musah Zakari of FC Samartex 1996 was near flawless, keeping four clean sheets in four matches. Samartex went unbeaten in January with three wins and a draw, as Zakari’s consistency strengthened their push for a top-four finish.

Completing the list is Dreams FC’s Rahman Osman. Osman featured in six matches, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just three goals as Dreams FC recorded three wins and two draws.

The winner of the January Goalkeeper of the Month award will be announced later in the month.
