GFA goes 24/7: FA aligns IT operations with Government’s 24-Hour Economy drive
The Ghana Football Association has officially transitioned its Information Technology (IT) Department to a 24-hour operational model, aligning with government’s transformative 24-Hour Economy policy aimed at boosting productivity, efficiency and national development.

The bold move positions the GFA as the first sports institution in the country to structurally align its internal operations with the national agenda, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, modernisation and responsive service delivery.
Under the leadership of IT Director Francis Adu, the department now operates in structured shifts, ensuring uninterrupted technical support to clubs, Regional Football Associations and stakeholders across the football ecosystem.
“The 24-hour system has been extremely helpful in enhancing efficiency, responsiveness and overall service delivery to our stakeholders,” Adu told GFA Communications. “We are now able to address technical issues in real time, support match operations seamlessly and ensure that our digital platforms remain fully functional at all times.”
As the FA’s largest department by personnel, the IT unit now provides continuous services spanning player registration, competition management systems, data administration and real-time stakeholder support. The transformation is anchored at the refurbished Old PLB Block, which has been upgraded into a centralised digital operations hub serving all ten Regional Football Associations and clubs across the various divisions.
The initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader institutional reforms focused on strengthening governance structures, enhancing operational efficiency and improving stakeholder satisfaction through technology-driven solutions.
The shift also directly complements the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy, signed into law in February 2026 by John Dramani Mahama, which seeks to drive economic transformation by enabling institutions and businesses to operate continuously through structured shift systems.
By embracing round-the-clock digital operations, the GFA is not only modernising football administration but also demonstrating how sport can actively contribute to national productivity and development.
