GES debunks allegations of ‘secret’ teacher recruitment and appointment

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has debunked claims on social media that the Service is “secretly” recruiting individuals and claiming amounts of up to GHS 25,000 to give recruitment.

In a statement dated December 12, 2025 and signed by Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, GES said these claims are “false”.

The Service urged the public to disregard the claims.

“The attention of the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to a viral video circulating on social media and in sections of the traditional media, particularly Adom FM, alleging that (a) there is an ongoing ‘secret’ recruitment into the GES, and (b) individuals are paying amounts of up to GHS 25,000 to secure recruitment.

“Management wishes to state that these claims do not reflect the fact, and are therefore, false,” portions of the statement read.

The Service explained that following the extension of the financial clearance in October 2025 for the onboarding of the 2024 applicants whose clearance expired, the management of GES resumed the process of onboarding.

GES said the resumption of the process has resulted in issuance of new letters in some cases including issuing new appointment letters to those who were recruited on fake letters since they could not be onboarded with the fake letters.

According to GES, these new letters were issued without any fee being collected.

The Service urged any person who has been asked to pay any money to collect his or her letter to report the issue to the relevant security agencies.

“Therefore, anybody who has evidence, or who has been approached to pay any amount of money should report the person requesting the money to the security agencies,” GES noted.

Management assured the public that the established procedures for recruitment of new applicants into the Service remain unchanged.

GES added that when financial clearance is obtained for the main recruitment, an official announcement will be made to invite all qualified candidates to apply.

The GES reiterated its commitment to fairness, integrity and due process in all recruitment exercises stressing that the recruitment process is open, transparent, and free of charge.
