GACL to submit post-dated cheques in court over dispute with McDan

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced its intention to submit evidence of bank balances to the courts as part of the ongoing legal dispute over the termination of McDan Aviation Handling Services Limited’s contract and the company’s subsequent eviction from Accra International Airport.Ghanaian culture facts
The evidence will include post-dated cheques allegedly issued by McDan Aviation but restrained from bank presentation due to insufficient funds. Other documents to be presented include demand notices and contractual provisions outlining termination clauses.
Airport authorities say this step has become necessary in response to what they describe as continuous false allegations being peddled by McDan Aviation.
“GACL respects the judicial processes and therefore will not litigate the issues in the media space. All records and evidence of non-payment, in addition to the contract which provides termination clauses, will be submitted to the courts,” a statement sighted by Citi Business News confirmed.
The contract with McDan Aviation was terminated on January 16, 2026, after several months of demand notices over unpaid rent, royalties, and licence fees associated with the company’s Fixed Base Operation services.
According to GACL, at the time of termination, McDan Aviation had outstanding payments covering the entire 2025 period, in addition to $16,000 in rejected banknotes linked to a 2024 payment.Regional news subscription
The airport authority further stated that a payment made by McDan Aviation in February 2026 occurred after the contract had already been lawfully terminated and the facility closed.
“That payment represented only half of the outstanding debt, leaving additional arrears still unpaid,” GACL said.
The operator also alleged that licence fees required to operate a private jet handling service have remained unpaid for four years, from 2022 to 2026.
