Faith Ladies crowned Women’s FA Cup champions after extra-time thriller

Faith Ladies lifted the Women’s FA Cup after edging Jonina Ladies 2-1 in a tense final that needed extra time to settle at the Madina Astro Turf on Sunday.

The match started cagey, with both sides showing early nerves. Faith Ladies’ Anastasia Bansah picked up a yellow card in the 8th minute for a rough tackle, while Jonina Ladies made an early change before halftime, replacing Abigail Bosu with Lordina Osei in the 41st minute.

Chances were few and far between as both teams struggled to find rhythm in attack. After a goalless 90 minutes, the final headed into extra time.

Jonina Ladies struck first in the 97th minute through Joyce Atimbila, but Faith Ladies responded almost immediately as Erica Obeng Apreku levelled just a minute later. The forward wasn’t done yet—she popped up again in the 112th minute to fire home the winner and complete her brace.

Jonina pressed for an equaliser, but Faith Ladies stayed organised and determined to see out the win.
