Ebenezer Assifuah inspires stunning Gor Mahia comeback to reclaim Kenyan Premier League summit
Former Ghana youth international Ebenezer Assifuah was the match-winner for his new club Gor Mahia, scoring a late decisive goal in a thrilling 3–2 comeback victory over Murang’a Seal to propel the record FKF Premier League champions back to the top of the table.

The 32-year-old forward, who joined K’Ogalo during the mid-season transfer window, marked his debut in unforgettable fashion by tapping home a low cross from Paul Ochuoga in the 81st minute. His goal capped a dramatic turnaround at the Kasarani Stadium and sealed a crucial win that restored Gor Mahia to the summit of the league standings.
Murang’a Seal, arriving on the back of an impressive 10-game unbeaten run, stunned the home side with a blistering start. Goals from Joe Waithira and Francis Memusi inside the opening 20 minutes handed the visitors a 2–0 advantage and piled early pressure on Gor Mahia head coach, Ghanaian tactician C.K. Akonnor.
Gor Mahia’s revival began just two minutes after the restart when Murang’a goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor spilled a routine cross into the path of Felix Oluoch, who made no mistake from close range. Momentum quickly swung in the hosts’ favour, and Ochuoga levelled matters just two minutes later with a well-taken finish to ignite the home crowd.
With momentum firmly in their favour, Gor Mahia head coach C.K. Akonnor introduced new signing Ebenezer Assifuah, and soon paid rich dividends for the record FKF Premier League champions.
The former Ghana youth international wasted no time in making his mark. In the 81st minute, Assifuah announced his arrival in emphatic fashion, calmly tapping home a low cross from Paul Ochuoga to complete a stunning comeback and secure all three points for Gor Mahia.
The victory lifts Gor Mahia above fierce rivals AFC Leopards to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table on goal difference, both sides level on 30 points. Murang’a Seal, whose long unbeaten run came to an end, remain ninth on 21 points.
