Bawumia pledges to work “day and night” to lead NPP to victory in 2028
Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to lead the party back to power in the 2028 general elections, pledging to work tirelessly to secure victory.
Dr Bawumia gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when a group of party delegates visited him at his private residence to express their confidence in his leadership and direction for the party.
Addressing the delegates, the former Vice President commended them for their support, describing their actions as critical to the party’s future prospects.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he said.
He assured party faithful that their renewed confidence in him would be matched with dedication and hard work.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” Dr Bawumia stated.
The NPP flagbearer emphasised that unity within the party would be decisive in the next electoral cycle. According to him, the party’s numerical strength gives it a clear pathway to victory if members rally behind a shared agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Dr Bawumia described the party’s current efforts as the beginning of a new phase in its rebuilding process and urged supporters to remain actively engaged.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added.
