2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Otto Addo is very tactical and disciplined – Dreams FC coach Karim Zito
Dreams FC coach, Abdul Karim Zito has praised Black Stars coach Otto Addo, describing him as a disciplinarian and a tactical strategist.
Zito made these remarks ahead of Ghana’s final games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Despite the team’s poor performances in the qualifiers, Zito, who is a veteran Ghanaian coach praised the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach.
“This coach you see, nobody can divert his course, you see him, I like him for one, he’s very disciplined and then very tactical,” he told Citi Sports. “What he wants to do is what he did.
“So to me, I’m very happy, they only have, if he gives them the opportunity, they only have to play well so that they give another opportunity to the rest of Africans.
“Because seriously when you are in Europe looking at what Europeans are doing and then you come to Africa, it will be very difficult for you to come in for a local player.
“It’s a fact because we have to do extra, the local players have to do extra before they come,” he added.
The Black Stars opened camp on Monday in Accra and held their first training session with eight players at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team will continue their training session today before they depart for Luanda on Wednesday. Ghana is aiming to qualify for the 2025 tournament in Morocco against all odds after a torrid start.
They will face Angola on November 15 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, followed by a home match against Niger Republic three days later.
The Black Stars currently sit in third place in Group F, with only two points from their four matches, trailing both Palancas Negras and Sudan and are aiming to qualify for the tournament against all odds.
