TUSAAG wants meeting with NLC on concerns raised postponed

The Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has requested the National Labour Commission (NLC) to postpone a meeting originally scheduled for today, Wednesday.

The association cites the progress made in resolving their concerns as the reason for the rescheduling request.

Previously, TUSAAG had threatened to strike in response to the premature termination of some technical university personnel’s employment.

They demanded full compliance with their retirement rollover date.

However, the planned action was suspended following interventions from the Education Minister and other stakeholders.

TUSAAG’s president, Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, in an interview with Citi News, stated that their appeal is due to the commitment shown by various institutions to address their concerns.

He indicated that two Technical Universities have begun issuing letters to affected members, indicating progress in resolving the issue.

He further explained that given the commitments made by the Vice Chancellors and the government, and the withdrawal of their strike, there is no immediate need for a meeting at the commission.

He added that they have informed the commission of the progress made after consulting with their Vice Chancellors.

“We have received reports from two Technical Universities that have started writing letters to the affected members. So far, as our issue is being addressed, and those commitments have been made by the Vice Chancellors and the government, and we have withdrawn our strike, there wouldn’t be much need at this time for all of us to travel far and wide and congregate at the commission for the commission to mediate in the matter that has already been resolved.

“So it was on these grounds that we decided to confer with our Vice Chancellors and then write to the commission to take notice of the progress that has been made,” he said.
