NAB Engages Media In Northern Region To Aid Propagate Their Mandate

The National Accreditation Board (NAB) on Saturday, 14th March, 2020, engaged media houses in the Northern region to build their capacities towards effective reportage on the mandate of National Accreditation Board NAB in the country.

Among other measures taken, the engagement was aimed at educating the media houses on the duties and responsibilities of NAB in the country to enable the media effectively project such education to the public.

Speaking to the Executive Secretary of NAB, Dr. Kingsley Narko, he said it is good the media understands the work of NAB and how programmes offered by institutions are been examined before accreditation, adding that, this will aid the media educate the public effectively.

Dr. Narko stressed that, NAB has the sole mandate to ensure quality education is promoted in the country, hence, the need for society awareness especially through the media since its the fastest tool of communication.

He disclosed that, there are some institutions that operate without recognised accreditation in the country.

This, he said necessitates the media to educate the public on the importance of accreditation from NAB.

According to him, any student that will be enrolled in an unaccredited institution will jeopardize his future.

He added  further that, the funds invested by the student parents, the time spent in such institution and the certificate acquired are wasted because its not recognized by NAB.

Dr. Narko  cautioned the public that, before establishing any tertiary institution, NAB should be the first point of call to offer guidance and necessary directions to ensure that a credible institution will be established.
