Tamale Local Council of Churches calls for passage of anti-LGBTQI+ bill

The northern regional chapter of the local council of churches, have added their voice to the call for the passage of the anti LGBTQI+ bill, to help promote proper human family life in the country.

The group is hopeful the spirit of God will guide lawmakers in taking a more concrete decision regarding to same sex activities.

The group has thrown its weight behind the anti-gay (LGBTQI) Bill currently before Parliament, the act of which they describe as a major risk to the future of this country

These were made known during a press briefing after its petition to parliament on October 5,2021, on the issue of anti gay bill before parliament.

According to the chairman of the council, Rev Dr. Peter Ziame, their support is borne out of the belief that LGBTQI+ is unbiblical and ungodly.

“We see LGBTQI+ as unrighteousness in the sight of God and will therefore do anything within our powers and mandate to ensure that the bill comes into fruition”.

The Local Council of Churches in the Northern Region comprising the Catholic Church Secretariat, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Church Council, Presbyterian church, Methodist church, Assemblies of God and the Independent Churches has unanimously endorsed the passage of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill currently before Parliament for consideration.

The Bill spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram provides for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian cultural norms and family values, was laid in Parliament for consideration and onward passage into law.

Meanwhile several groups have presented memos to the August house indicating their strong opposition to the passage of the bill, arguing the bill when passed would be affront to the constitution of Ghana and therefore must not be entertained.

The Council reiterates the practice of this dastardly act threatens the future existence of human race, hence must not be entertained in any way.

The group fears  the country will be overly burdened with Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STIs), if the LGBTQ+ practice is allowed in the country stating that the anti-gay bill has come at no better time than now.
