The Bimbagu Traditional Area has celebrated its Ndipoadaam festival in the Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri district of the North East region.
The festival under the theme “Re-Enforcing Unity Through Ndipoadaam” is aimed at thanking the gods and ancestors of the land for a successful farming season.
The chiefs, elders, and landlords in the traditional area poured libation to thank their ancestors for a bumper harvest and also to seek their guidance and protection ahead of another farming season.
The Chief of the Bimbagu Traditional Area, Chief Ubor Sigom Daniel Tibila, during the celebration, urged Konkombas in the traditional area to promote their culture for their children and the youth to embrace it.
He indicated that the purpose of the Ndipoadaam festival also seeks to promote reconciliation among families in the traditional area.
“Today is an opportunity for us to reconcile with family members and others who we are not on good terms with and so it’s an opportunity to forgive one another and live in harmony and peace because with peace there will be massive development in our traditional area”.
The Chief, however, lamented the lack of electricity, potable water, health center, and bad road network among others in the Bimbagu South community and called on the government, organizations, and philanthropists to come to their aid.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bunkpurgu-Nakpanduri, Joseph Louknaan, who represented the North East Regional Minister, commended the people of the Bimbagu South community for the continuous peace in the area.
He appealed to the Konkombas to continue to live peacefully with other tribes in the district to ensure that the district gets the development it deserves.
Responding to the lack of electricity, the District Chief Executives (DCE) for Bunkpurgu-Nakpanduri, assured the chief and people of the Bimbagu South community that efforts are being made to connect Bimbagu South and its surroundings to the national grid as well as provide them to potable water.
“The whole community has been surveyed and the data has been submitted to the Ministry of Energy and so very soon the contractors will come and start work on the electricity”.
