N/R house of Chiefs to get facelift

Members of the Northern regional house of chiefs will soon have the comfort to deliberate on chieftaincy matters, after the renovation works on its office complex is completed.

The renovation works begun upon approval given by the chieftaincy ministry.

This was made known during a general meeting of the house in Tamale.

 

The house of chiefs which was built decades ago has never seen any major renovation works until now, causing the revered chiefs with no option than to sit for meetings in the dilapidated conference hall which leaks anytime it rains.

The hall currently has a few functioning ceiling fans talk less a single air-condition system to suit the status of paramouncy.

To assuage its work, government through the chieftaincy and religious affairs ministry has also donated One Toyota V8 Land cruiser and a Nissan hard body pickup vehicle to the house.

In a speech read on his behalf, the President of the house of chief, Yagbon-wura Tuntumba Bore Essa I, made a clarion call on government to expedite action in the infrastructural development of the houses of chiefs in the Savanna and North East regions, for an accelerated and efficient administration of the newly created regions carved out of the northern region.

On the Nanum protracted chieftaincy disputes he indicated that the Eminent Chiefs together with government are making conscious efforts to restore peace in Dagbon at last.

Meanwhile the president of the house commended government for the renovation works to give the house of chiefs a facelift and also called on investors to the five regions of the north as a window to reduce poverty in the area.
