U/E PNC throws weight behind Apasera, Danibaah

The Upper East Region branch of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has thrown its support for the party’s Leader, David Apasera, and the National Chairman, Moses Danibaah.

The two were recently removed by the party after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Kumasi.

They had been accused of wrongfully suspending Janet Asana Nabla as the General Secretary of the party after she petitioned NEC over their action.

In place of Mr Apasera and Mr Danibaah, the Greater Accra Region chairman of the party, Bala Maikankan, was appointed to act as the National Chairman and Leader.

But at a press conference in the Upper East Region capital, Bolgatanga, on Friday, September 10, spokesperson of regional and some constituency executives Peter Akunle Gbanwaa said Mr Maikankan and Ms Nabla should make way for Mr Apasera “so that the 2024 elections, the party can contest and win”.

He led the other executives to chant words like ‘Janet, Away’ to register displeasure at the action of Ms Nabla.

They claim if she has a case, she should proceed to court and seek redress.

They imposed a vote of no confidence in all the executives present at the meeting that removed Mr Apasera and Mr Danibaah from their roles in the party.

They asked the 2020 Presidential Candidate, who is a former Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga, to convene a meeting to suspend all those executives.

Already, Mr Apasera has sued the executives at an Accra High Court.
