Hiplife artiste X-Doe believes the modern generation of Ghanaian musicians must find ingenious ways of competing and keeping their rivalries alive instead of resorting to violence.
“When you are young you do things you don’t think about. I have come out several times to condemn beefing among artists. I knew where it got me and I knew it wasn’t what I wanted,” he said on Citi TV’s Saturday Live.
He added that “there are people who even tell me that I wasn’t smart to have ended it because it brought popularity and money. I am grown and realized it wasn’t right so I have apologized to Chicago and Rockstone.”
X-Doe stated that he loves what Shatta and Stone did by holding that press conference to calm everyone down after the two were engaged in a brawl at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
According to him, Shatta and Stone can go on with the lyrical beef but it must never get physical.
“We can have fun with the diss songs but they must be creative. Don’t go direct because if that’s all there is to it anybody could do it,” he further noted.
His comments come in the wake of the decision by dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to call a truce following their recent rivalry at the VGMAs.
The veteran hiplife artiste was involved in one of the most publicised beefs in the early 2000s with fellow artiste Chicago.
Richard Kwasi Siaw Akrofi (real name), took a dig at Chicago after the latter claimed to have ghostwritten Ex-Doe’s breakout single ‘Daavi Mede Kuku’.
In his rage, he recorded ‘Maba’ as a diss record to Chicago, which set off their beef which also saw him take shots at Reggie Rockstone.
X Doe revealed on Citi Tv’s Saturday Live with Nana Adwoa Sarkodie and Nana Tuffour Boateng that looking back at the situation he would have done things differently.
