Lambussie residents disappointed over President’s failure to honour promise of roofing SHS within 10 days

Residents in the Lambussie Area have expressed their disappointnent at the President, Nana Akufo Addo.

They say despite the president’s promise to fix roof of the Lambussie Day Senior High School, the roof remains in a state of disrepair.

It would be recalled that the President was in the Upper West Region in July on a duty tour. The tour took him to Lambussie where the President of the Lambussie Traditional Council Kuoro Salifu Tengie Dy-yaka pleaded with him to as a matter of urgency, fix the roof of the school which was ripped off by strong rains and winds.

The President, in his response, indicated that the Chief and his people will begin to see some work being done on the roof 10 days after his visit. More than 30 days after the President’s visit, the situation remains the same.

“The roof of the Community Day Senior High School, that is going to be dealth with immediately after my visit. Within the course of the next week, ten days, you will see some results,” the president said.

A source within the school who spoke to A1 Radio’s Upper West Regional Correspondent said after the president’s visit, there has been no single indication that the roof will be fixed anytime soon.

The Assembly man for the Lambussie Electoral Area, Alidu Badoming who spoke to GBC News said the situation has been worsened now due to the continuous rains.

“That is indeed the situation and there is nothing showing that they are going to fix it anytime soon. We expect that by now, the contractor should be on site of at least just visit to make estimations. No body even came to assess the situation after the president’s visit. The roof has been ripped off. It has affected the wiring,” he explained.

He said the severity of the situation has led to the closure of the school’s library.

Mr Badoming appealed to the President to make good on his promise of fixing the roof.

He expressed worry that if the situation continues to remain the same, teaching and learning in the school would continue to be affected negatively.
