NPP Parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central files nomination

Dr. Barihama Ibrahim Imoro Anyars, the parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central Constituency has submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission  (EC) District office as candidate to represent the ruling New Patriotic Party in that Constituency.

He presented his forms this morning after a heavy down pour and made available a GH¢10,000 banker’s draft as the filing fee to the EC.

This is the second time Dr. Anyars would put up himself for the position having done the same in 2016 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and lost to the incumbent, Inusah Fuseini in a disputed election.

In an interview with FiilaNews after the filing of nomination, Dr. Anyars indicated that Friday is a blessed day in the books of Islam and he is optimistic that 7th December will be a joyous day for him and his constituents.

According to Dr. Anyars who also doubles as the CEO of the Nation’s Builder’s Corp (NABCO), he is truly humbled by the massive and unprecedented turnout displayed by party executives, members, and the various volunteer groups and supporters who accompanied him to exercise this important civic duty.

He further urged all constituents to continue to propagate the Development Agenda, knock on doors and horn campaign message to every corner of the constituency. He meanwhile urged Ghanaians to elect leaders who can represent their ideologies and display good leadership in every facet of life without regrets.

“Elect leaders who can represent you in parliament and not someone who is prone to the abuse of elders, not one who doesn’t show humility in their attitude, nor someone who has been rejected by a rural constituency and is hastily fighting to be accepted by the biggest constituency like Tamale central”.

The delegation who accompanied the Parliamentary candidate includes Hon. Musah Superior (Mayor of Tamale), the Constituency Chairman and the Constituency secretary was among several other dignitaries who trouped to the EC office to witness the filing of nomination of the candidate.

Today, October 9, 2020 marks the last day for persons interested in contesting for parliamentary and presidential seats in the 2020 elections to file their nomination forms.

The Electoral Commission will close the window for the filing by close of work today. Despite strong opposition to the new filing fee, political parties and aspirants have since Monday filed their form.

The EC pegged the filing fee for presidential candidates at GHS100,000 and GHS10,000 for parliamentary candidates.
