Prof Braimah sworn in as Vice Chancellor for Tamale Technical University

The first Vice Chancellor of the Tamale Technical University, Professor Abass Braimah has been sworn into office at a colorful ceremony held at the Tamale Technical University last Saturday.

Prof. Abass Braimah until his appointment was the substantive  Vice Chancellor and the President of engineering design solutions, a structural design and extreme load effects and analysis firm in Ottawa,  Canada.

The chairman of the governing council Dr. Alhassan Emil Abdulai who inducted Prof Braimah into office expressed hope that, the vice chancellor will bring his many years of experience in the private sector, government and academia to bear on his leadership.

He urged the VC to also roll out new programs that are critical for the sustainable development of country.

Dr. Abdulai also pledge the support of the Governing council, management of the school, together with the entire staff to enable him succeed his new role.

The chairman of the governing council while acknowledging that adequate funding of higher education has been one of the challenges of successive administration of the country, he expressed hope that government will accelerate action on its commitment to funding institutions of higher learning.

The VC Professor Abass Braimah in his acceptance speech pledge to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He promised to build the foundation of a prosperous elite and world a class university that many would be proud of.

He expressed his appreciation to the Vice chancellor search team and the Governing council of the University for finding him worthy and appointing him to serve in the high office of the university.

He paid glowing tribute to his predecessors for their contributions to the development of the university especially Dr. Abdul- Manan Dauda, the immediate past acting VC who served in diverse ways to begin the transition of the institution from a Polytechnic to a University.

The Minister of state in charge of tertiary education Prof. Kwesi Yankah in a speech read on his behalf, congratulated Prof. Braimah for his appointment and urged him to work hard to attain the vision of the government for Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).

The occasion was graced by the Northern Regional minister Hon Salifu Saeed who challenge the newly appointed VC to ensure the completion of all the infrastructural projects to enhance academic work  of the University.

The investiture ceremony of the new VC was held alongside the 2nd congregation of the University, where 633 students graduated with various classes in Higher National Diploma (HND).
