Police clamp down on recalcitrant citizens over Covid protocols

The Ghana Police service in Tamale has clamp down on recalcitrant citizens over their refusal to wear face mask in public, as the country’s case count surges.

The exercise which started partially at the regional headquarters was extended to some parts of the Cultural center today, Monday January 25,2021 to arrest defaulters who either do not wear a mask or those who choose to lower their mask for want of convenience in public places.

A visit by FiilaNews to the District police quarters shows over 50 persons who were arrested this morning lined up and their day’s activities cut short for their refusal to abide by the covid-19 safety protocols.

As others consider the wearing of mask as inconveniencing, some say Covid-19 cannot survive in the Northern region due to the hot weather condition.

Meanwhile the Ghana Health Service has confirmed that the Covid-19 virus has now spread to all 16 regions of the country.

The GHS said as many as 695 new cases were recorded on the January 21, 2021,  increasing the active cases from 3,286 to 3,525 and total case count of 61,498.
