Parliament reconvenes today

Members of Ghana’s 7th Parliament will later today [Monday, December 14, 2020] reconvene from recess.

Their sittings will be ahead of the dissolution of the current House to swear in newly-elected legislators from the December 7 parliamentary election.

A notice from the House signed by the Director of Public Relations, Kate Addo said the decision to reconvene is upon the directive of the Speaker, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye in accordance with Order 6 of the Standing Orders of the House.

The statement assured the members and staff of the House that all COVID-19 protocols will be observed at the various sittings.

The House rose in November 2020, in preparation for the just ended general elections and is currently in its fourth session.

The current parliament will be dissolved at the stroke of midnight on the 6th of January 2021 to make way for the new parliament.
