Make birth control Informations available to women of reproductive age-N/R Population Officer to stakeholders

The Northern Regional population officer has called on stakeholders including governmental, non-governmental and other civil society agencies to take conscious efforts in making family planning and information service available and accessible to women of reproductive age.

This according to Alhaji Issifu Seidu Iddi will afford women and girls the opportunity and right to decide when and how often they want to have children.

He made this known in a presentation to mark this year’s world population day 2021, under the global theme “Prioritizing reproductive health is an answer to rights of choices”.

Speaking exclusively to Fiilanews, Alhaji Seidu Iddi described as alarming, the rate at which population figures are increasing in the northern region with an annual figure of 2.9% growth rate in population which according to him is above the national average.

He added that higher population rates add up to poverty levels which can as well lead to over population in schools.

He is therefore appealing to families to place more priority on the quality of upbringing of children rather than the numbers they seek to achieve.
