NIC to Train over 2000 Youth as Insurance Agents                

The National Insurance Commission (NIC) will in the coming months train over 2000 Ghanaian youth in various insurance policies to help equip unemployed youth with the requisite knowledge in insurance.

This training will serve as a pool from which various insurance companies will recruit and further train their staff to suit the company’s specific product knowledge.

This was made known by the National Insurance Commissioner Justice Yaw Ofori when he paid a courtesy call on the overlord of DagbonYa-Na AbukariMahama II at his palace in Yendi.

According to Commissioner Justice Yaw Ofori , the Northern Area Office alone will be training a total of 1,400, consisting 700 recruits from the old Northern Region, 400 and 300 from Upper East and Upper West Regions respectively.

According to the Commissioner,the exercise is aimed at reducing mis-selling of insurance products to the barest minimum whiles equipping the youth with employable skills to make ends meet.

On his part the overlord of DagbonYaa-NaaMahamaAbukari (II), expressed gratitude to the commission, and admonished them to keep the good work.

He pledged his support to the commission in having a Dagbon which is responsive to insurance policies.Meanwhile the Overlord urged the youth of Dagbon to grab the opportunity when the time is due, to help equip themselves with employable skills.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Director of Insurance College, Mr. Richard Ochere, and Northern Regional Manager NIC Mr. Joseph Akanlagm among others.

Also in attendance are representatives from the various insurance markets in the region including; Provident Insurance, Allianz Insurance, SIC, Quality Insurance Company, Star Assurance, Nem Regency, Old Mutual and Med Life among others.
