New voter registration exercise for 2020 polls to start late June – John Boadu

The Electoral Commission will embark on the new voters’ registration exercise from late June 2020 to July 2020, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr John Boadu has hinted.

He told journalists about the development when he emerged from an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

The only item on the agenda at the meeting, which was divided into two groups of eight political parties, was an update on the 2020 registration exercise.

The meeting was divided into two sessions to allow for the observance of physical distancing as a result of the coronavirus disease.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) decided to boycott the meeting whilst the representative of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) also walked out of the meeting some minutes after entering.

The Electoral Commission is expected to officially communicate the outcome of the meeting after the second session.
