N/R NPP Chair Gifts 5 Traders Ghc25K

Tamale, Ghana – The Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Baantima Samba, has donated GHS25,000 to five traders whose grain shops were gutted by fire at the Tamale Aboabo market.

Each trader received GHS5,000 when Mr Samba visited the scene of the fire to commiserate with them.

The secretary to the Aboabo Food Sellers Association, Chief Zakaria Fuseini told Class News’ regional correspondent that the disaster occurred on Friday, 15 February at about 2:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The leadership of the market complained of inaccessibility to the arena. They said due to construction works on Phase One of the Aboabo market project, the contractor had blocked some accessible routes to the commercial arena, thus, making it inaccessible when disaster strikes.

They appealed to the government to speed up the completion of the project so there will be more space for commercial business activities.

For his part, Mr Samba said his gesture is a manifestation of the NPP’s desire to always serve the people of Ghana. He said he mobilised the party and some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to empathise with those who lost their investments in the disaster.

Mr Samba assured the traders that the government will ensure the completion of the ongoing project to improve conditions in the area, which he believes will avert future disasters.
