Ghana Health Service and Partners holds two days Conference on Adolescent Health and Nutrition.

The Regional Director of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Abdulai Abukari said the Service has played a pivotal role in raising awareness about crucial issues affecting the lives of adolescents.

He said some of the issues include Family Planning, Abstinence, COVID-19, Physical Disability, Drug Abuse, Peer Pressure, Water and Sanitation, Menstrual Hygiene, and Nutrition among others.

He said this at a two-day adolescent health and nutrition conference in Tamale.

The conference is on the Theme: Bridging the care gap in adolescent health service delivery: The role of the community and service providers.

The theme as explanined by Dr Abdulai said the theme was carefully chosen to highlight the gaps that still exist in ensuring that our adolescents receive the best of health services and also bring to the attention of all stakeholders some challenges confronting adolescents as far as their health needs are concerned in the region.

In a speech read on behalf of the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu by Mr Mumuni Dramani  he underscored the need for adolescent health and nutrition.

The Executive Director NORSAAC Mohammed Awal Alhassan, adds that the conference represents a significant milestone to bridge the care gap in adolescent service delivery.
