The Program Influence and Impact area manager at Plan International Ghana, indicated that the media has shown commitment in the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) related reportage in recent times, and have made tremendous effort to ensure justice is served Victims involved .

On the other hand Mr. Eric Ayaba thinks state agencies responsible in the fight are not committing enough time and resources to help combat the situation in the country.

According to him“it doesn’t appear like duty bearers are up to the task in the fight against GBV in terms of advocacy, resource, human capital among others”

Mr. Ayaba made this known to FiilaNews during Plan international’s media engagement to mark the 16 Days of activism against gender -based violence.

The global celebration is aimed at drumming home the need to end violence in any form against women.

This year’s celebration is themed; Orange the world: End violence against women now.

Through its Woman’s Innovation for Sustainable Enterprises Project (WISE-Project), Plan International Ghana is currently deploying gender transformative approaches at several levels to address the root cause of gender inequalities.

It is thus calling on all Ghanaians to say no to gender based violence against women and girls and also the need for adequate budgetary allocations to be made to state agencies to operationalize the Domestic Violence Act.

He also called for the consistent capacity building of key stakeholders involved in the fight against GBV to ensure proper management of violence cases.

He is worried the future of women in this country will be in shambles should they continue to come into contact with violence of these nature on daily bases.
