Taha and adjourning Communities Cut Off due to rainfall

Residents of Taha and its adjourning communities have been cut off due to flooding caused by rainstorm that hit the region on Sunday April 18, 2021.

The residents, who couldn’t cross their major bridge to or from the community currently under construction, blamed the flooding experienced on Monday morning to the contractor’s inability to create a proper diversion before the commencement of work.

In an interview with FiilaNews, one of the resident noted that members of the community had no choice than to create their own diversion, as workers and students got stranded on Monday morning due to the flooding.

Inusah Kamaldeen a member of Nantong-Kpawumo, referred to the materials used for the construction as substandard and requested the contractor on site to see to the use of appropriate materials for a better project.

He further made an appealed to authorities to see to the fast completion of the six months old project, with a request for the specifications of the project to be made known to the beneficiary communities.

Fiila Fm’s visit to the community Monday, April 19,2021, saw some aggrieved youth interacting with the works Engineer, Mr. Baba Issah. In speaking to FiilaNews, Mr. Issah noted that resident’s assertions that the materials are of substandard, are a lay man’s point of view.

He also indicated that the documented six months duration can be made short depending on the contractor on site.

The affected communities included; Fou, Taha, Nantong kpawumo, bugyili, Gbalahi, Wovo Gumani and their adjourning communities.

Meanwhile the police were there, to enforce law and order on the part of residents as the contractor and others involved visited to assess the extent of damage.
