N/R: Roads Minister tours Tamale Areas affected by the Monday’s flood

The roads minister has on behalf of the president Nana Akufo  Addo paid a days working visit to the northern region to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the monday morning down pour.

The downpour which lasted for hours, rendered many areas flooded causing damages to people’s homes and property.

Mr. Kwesi Amoako-Attah visited these affected areas in the region, together with the regional minister, engineers from the ministry and the regional highways authorities to commensurate with the affected victims and access the extent of damage and proffer solutions to avert future occurrence.

“Since we have one country and one interest with a government who is willing to do the will of the people, the  ministry is here to give the affected areas the needed attention and support as enjoyed by areas that suffer same problems” the minister noted.

It will be recalled that a month ago, the Wa-Hamile-Nandom road was washed away by a heavy downpour, cutting off some part of the road rendering it unmotorable  for travelers.

The situation which attracted national attention was then awarded to a contractor to swiftly salvage the situation.

This the minister noted in his submission during the one day tour to the region that the project will complete Thursday 2nd September,2021.

He added that just as what was experienced in the upper west region, Tamale’s flooding will as well be given the needed  attention to avert future occurrences, describing it as a national disaster.

He meanwhile inspected the Vittin storm drain project,  African Touch fuel station that was totally submerged in the flood waters, Nanton-Savelugu road project among several others.

The minister in the company of his team will on Thursday proceed to the upper East region for onward inspection on the extent of damages cased by flooding during this rainy season.
