The newly sworn-in Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Saibu has met with the media in the region for the first time, to officially familiarize himself as he readies to start work as the minister.
According to Alhaji Alhassan Saibu, the media as the fourth realm of government cannot be overlooked in the development of the region and the country at large, hence the need to announce his start of tenure to sail through smoothly.
He noted further that Communication is a very important tool and how one communicates will either yield positive or a negative result.
This he made a passionate appeal to the media to seek clarification on any information regarding the regional coordinating council to confirm its authenticity before publication to avoid any form of miscommunication.
He indicated that “sometimes hearsay’s are very hazardous to the flow of information. Do not publish if you don’t hear from the horses own mouth.
He pledged to promote the peace that the region is currently enjoying now and to ensure the development agenda of His Excellency the president are carried out successfully during his tenure in office.
He meanwhile assured the media of his resolve to avail himself anytime he is needed by the media to clarify issues.
On his behalf the Northern Regional chairman of GJA Mr. Yakubu Abdul Majeed pledged the optimal support of the media in the region in his tenure of office.
He further called on the newly sworn-in minister to open his doors to all media men and women and not just a section of them.
According to the chairman, the media cannot be taken for granted hence must be seen as stakeholders in the development of the Region.
