GNPC foundation commission’s borehole for Kanshegu community

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation has provided three boreholes to various communities in the Savelugu Municipality of the Northern Region.

The initiative is to help provide potable water for the residents in these communities and other adjoining ones.

The water project is a major social intervention by the GNPC Foundation to provide deprived communities across the country with clean potable water, and improve their health and livelihood.

This was made known during the commissioning of one of these boreholes at Kanshegu a suburb of the Savelugu Municipality.

The three boreholes formed part of the 40 boreholes to be commissioned by the GNPC Foundation in some deprived communities in the Northern Region.

The initiative is being done under the Foundation’s 100 borehole water project across the country.

Addressing the people, the Chief Executive Officer of the GNPC Foundation Mr. Dominic Eduah , explained that the GNPC’s water project was to assist communities to have easy access to clean water.

He indicated that most of the beneficiary communities were selected for the GNPC oil exploration visibility centres.

Mr. Eduah noted his outfit realized that most of the communities in the company’s operational areas had water challenges and that waterborne diseases were becoming prevalent hence the need for the gesture.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu Municipality, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, commended GNPC for the project and urged the beneficiary community to allow the adjoining communities also benefit from the project . She further called on the residents to take good care of the boreholes for them to last long.

Hajia Ayishetu made an appeal to the foundation to help the deprived schools in the area, to help improve upon teaching and learning.

The Chief of the area, kanshenaa Mahama Amadu, who praised GNPC for the water project, promised to see to the periodic maintenance of the borehole so that the people could enjoy potable water for years.

Meanwhile the Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed who graced the occasion emphasized the need for sustainable peace in Dagbon to help lure more investors into the area.

He also praise the foundation for the initiative and prayed that the region benefits from several projects in the future.
