Authorities of the coalition of commercial Transport Operators in Tamale are calling on its members to seize rendering services to commuters until government responds positively to their demands.
This appeal follows a road block that led to some coalition members disembarking passengers from vehicles en route their destination.
Most of the affected who happen to be traders, in an interview with FiilaNews, expressed their grievances to the GPRTU and stakeholders involved.
In recounting their dissatisfaction, a victim who gave her name only as Adamu from gbelahibila noted that their driver was subjected to severe beating and all passengers on board were made to alight though they had paid fares.
Meanwhile the chairman of the Ghana National Cargo Transport Association, N/R secretariat, Mr. Nurudeen Aliu indicated that their action this morning is borne out of the unwillingness of members to comply with the National directive to sit down and strike.
He thus made a passionate appeal to the government and the sector minister to head to their call for a reduction in fuel prices.
Prior to the nationwide strike action today by the Coalition, government was given an ultimatum to ensure a reduction in the prices of petrol and other fuel products on the Ghanaian market.
As a matter of national emergency the Coalition wants government to totally scrap the Price Stabilization and Recovery Levy, the Special Petroleum Tax, Energy Sector Levy, Energy Debt Recovery Levy and the SanitationPollution Levy from the pump price of petroleum products before the midnight of Sunday 5th December, 2021.
The failure of government to comply with the said directive led to all commercial transport operators striking to get government to act.
FiilaNews has meanwhile spotted various images of workers who suffered the same ordeal in Accra and other parts of the country, commuting to their destination or resorting to other means of transport to their destination.
