Farouk Aliu Mahama has no hands in compilation of new register – Yendi NPP Youth

Contrary to assertions that the Yendi Member of Parliament, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, hijacked the nomination forms and filled the various polling stations with his sympathizers and cronies, a section of the New Patriotic Party youth in the Yendi constituency in the northern region has refuted the allegations and given clarity to the matter.

The youth stated categorically that the already approved album was compiled by the party’s recognized constituency elections committee for the Yendi constituency.

The group outlined the 9 member committee constituting a regional representative, the constituency Chairman, the constituency secretary who doubles as secretary for the committee, constituency I.T officer, the research/elections officer, Council of Patrons Chairperson, Council of Elders Chairperson, Member of Parliament or his representative and an elderly women from the party supervised the compilation of the constituency polling stations album.

Mohammed Amin Zakaria, spokesperson of the group at news confab on Monday (March 14, 2022) said some self-seeking individuals’ sort to disabuse the minds of the rank and file of the party and the general public into believing that the MP compiled the new register.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the press I wish to make it categorically clear at this point that, the album which has just approved by NEC and Regional Executives Committee was compiled by the above mentioned committee. Let me disabuse the minds of people or members who were misinformed and misled by some self-seeking individuals in the constituency in to believing that the just approved album was compiled by the Hon Member of Parliament for Yendi and His cohorts” he emphasized.

The spokesperson further urged aggrieved members to remain for the unity of the party and channel their grievances to the appropriate party dispute resolution committee for redress.

Violation of party rules

The NPP Youth has however urged the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to suspend the  Yendi NPP Constituency Chairman, Abubakari Sadiq, and take sanctions against him for gross misconduct.

The group accused the Chairman of instigating party members to take legal actions against the party and attacking structures of the party in the constituency.

“This collation is calling for his immediate suspension. We want to call on NEC to call the constituency chairman to order or instigate sanctions on him if he fails to listen and continue instigating law suits against the party in which he chairs, inciting youth and mob to attack party structures. These are grave misleads that goes contrary to article 3(5) of the constitution” Mohammed Amin Zakaria asserted.
