A group calling itself North for Alan has made a vehement protest at the selective application of the party’s rules on a section of its members rather than all affected members of the party.
They noted that some party faithfuls especially those who publicly declare their stands for the candidature of Hon. Alan Kyeremanten are treated like criminals who have to be chased out of the party, unlike the rest who declare their support for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The group made this known during a press conference at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium, on Wednesday 5 December, 2022.
It will be recalled that last year, the General secretary of the new patriotic party(NPP), Mr. John Buadu announced rules and regulations governing the conduct of would-be aspirants to various executive positions in the party.
Among the directives were that, no party official shall declare public support for any aspirant ahead of the opening of nominations and that no paraphernalia promoting any aspirant should be displayed publicly ahead of the opening of same nominations.
But the group claims the rules governing the party has been greatly disobeyed by most high ranking members of the party.
Reading the statement on behalf of its members, the secretary for North for Alan, Mr. Saibu Gafaru noted that a number of high ranking members of the party have openly declared support for the Vice President who together with his supporters have left no one in doubt that he is interested in contesting the NPP Flagbearership.
He described those actions as clearly a violation of the party’s rules and a bigotry act associated with their declaration.
Mr. Gafaru has noted that the group will vehemently resist any attempt to suppress, victimize and intimidate patriots who show support for Hon. Alan Kyeremanten.
He further added that if nothing fruitful comes out of the concerns raised, they will go ahead to campaign for their candidate Alan Kyeremanten.
