2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Real Tamale United players boycott training over unpaid wages and bonuses

Real Tamale United head coach, Abdul Mumin Abdulai, has revealed that the playing body has refused to train due to unpaid wages and bonuses.

The Northern-based club will be hosted by Heart of Lions in the matchday 20 games this weekend at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

However, the players boycotted the training session on Wednesday due to unpaid wages.

According to Abdulai, the players are owed five months’ wages and bonuses. He added that he (Abdul Mumin Abdulai) has not been paid for close to a year.

He called for immediate assistance to help resolve the dire situation.

“The players boycotted yesterday’s training because they haven’t received their salaries in nearly five months, plus some unpaid bonuses. I have not been paid for nearly a year as the coach. Our situation is dire, and we require immediate help,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

“Some of us can’t say anything, but the players have a weapon and are refusing to train, which speaks volumes to me. We’re trying to figure out how to put our heads together with a little psychology.

“As a human, I occasionally need to assist them in some way, such as when a player complains about not eating all day, but I can’t handle it all on my own, so we rely on stakeholders.

“It’s a tough one, but we can still avoid relegation if things turn around today,” he added.
