Commercial drivers in Tamale to begin strike on Monday

The Northern Regional Branch of the Coalition of commercial transport operators of Ghana, has directed its members to begin a sit down strike Monday 6th December, 2021.

The leadership in a press statement copied to FiilaNews, stated the strike would remain in force until all their demands are fully met by the government.

The leadership of the coalition while entreating their members to comply with the directive, also appealed to the general public to bear with the coalition on their demands.

It would be recalled that, on November 23, 2021, the leadership of GPRTU directed its members to wear red armbands as a protest signal to alert the government of its intended strike action which was scheduled for Monday, November 29, 2021, but was later called off.

They said, the action is to compel the government to reduce the price of a litre of fuel by GHS 1.50.

The price of fuel in the country has increased significantly over the past six months, with many drivers lamenting about the situation.

Most oil marketing companies in Ghana currently sells fuel around GH¢6.80 per litre, a price that is above the African average of less than GH¢6.
