Black Stars allowed entry after ‘miscommunication’ with Tang Palace hotel

Ghana’s preparations to play Kenya in their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is finally back on track after players and backroom staff were finally allowed access to the Tang Palace Hotel on Monday night.

Desperate hotel officials were quick to reach out to Ghanasoccernet.com, Ghana’s leading football news outfit, that ‘miscommunication’ on Monday night had led to some players and backroom staff being chucked out of the hotel as they arrived to start camping.

Hotel officials said an overzealous security officer on duty was the one who denied the squad its entry to the place but all was sorted after Alex Asante of the Ghana FA intervened to allow the team access and the serenity needed to start their preparations.

While some accused the Normalisation Committee of not paying amounts owed the hotel, it is clear this is not the case as national team expenses are catered for by the Sports Ministry.

Hotel officials also confirmed that all amounts needed to cater for the squad while they are staying at the Tang Palace to avoid any distractions have been paid by the Ministry.

It must be confirmed that members of the technical team and players were indeed left stranded and unable to access their rooms as the national team arrived to start their camping.

With most of the players based in Europe and used to excellent organization and preparations for matches the incident was a serenity setback for Coach Kwesi Appiah.

Head coach Kwesi Appiah was expected to hold his first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday but with most players expected to arrive on Tuesday night only some sort of recovery training can take place.

The majority of the foreign-based players are expected in the country by Tuesday night after featuring for their clubs in Europe on Sunday.

The three Asante Kotoko players Felix Annan, Amos Frimpong and Kwame Bonsu will join the rest of the team on Tuesday when they return from Zambia after playing in their CAF Confederation Cup defeat to Zesco United.
