Bagre Dam Spillage: move to higher grounds to avert severe distraction

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has advised communities along the White and Black Volta,  to evacuate to higher grounds as neighboring Burkina Faso prepares to spill the Bagre and Kompienga dams sometime this week.

The  Disaster Management Organization this week received notice from its partners, SONABEL ENERGY in Burkina Faso, about the imminent spillage of the Bagre Dam in the coming days.

According to data available and copied to FiilaNews, the possibility of the spillage is high since the current water level as at Wednesday 24th August, 2021 was 234.09m as against the maximum level of 235m.

In a release copied to FiilaNews and signed by the Regional NADMO director Alhaji Abdallah Abdul-Mumin, the water levels of the dam seems to be rising rapidly, stating that, the possibility of opening the valves for spillage can be within 27 August and 30 August 2021.

Lives, Food and properties are affected yearly due to the spillage of the Bagre Dam.

To avert this major distraction, NADMO is appealing to communities who may be at risk to relocate to higher grounds, to lower the impacts of the distraction, the release advised.
