Chairman of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) says it will deal with anyone who tries to disturb the peace currently being enjoyed in the region.
This was made known during a press conference organized by the REGSEC Chairman, Mr. Salifu Saeed who also doubles as the Northern regional minister.
The statement released by the council noted that some yet to be identified youth took to the streets of the metropolis to burn tyres, briefly blocked the Tamale Bolgatanga highway, and fired gunshots in the central business district of the metropolis, causing fear and panic among residence.
Addressing the media today, Friday, December 11, 2020, the Chairman of the Regional Security Council, Salifu Saeed, noted that they will not hesitate to punish any persons who will be caught in connection with the disturbances seeking to undermine the peace and security in the region.
He also warned Chiefs and opinion leaders in the region to advise their subjects against such acts, adding that, the Security Council will not allow any interference from traditional rulers if anyone is arrested. “
REGSEC wishes to sound a strong warning to everyone that the security agencies will not countenance any act that will seek to undermine the peace and security of the region.”
Meanwhile Mr. Salifu Saeed further made clear that the security agencies are investigating to unravel those behind the disturbances last night and such individuals will be dealt with without fear or favor.
