Agrihouse 11th Pre-harvest Exhibition ongoing in Tamale

Agrihouse Foundation has on Monday October 18, 2021, opened its 11th Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Conference and Exhibition in Tamale to improve
market channels for agriculture foods in the Northern Region.

The annual exhibition is on the theme: “Working Together to Improve Market Channels for Agri-foods Beyond the Pandemic.”

In her submission the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation Madam Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, said the event is aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural initiatives and increasing the use of innovative technology in building a modern agricultural sector in the country.

She thus urged government to build the capacities of players in the agriculture sector to adopt to best farming practices to increase yields.

The three day long exhibition is supported by YARA Ghana, Ecobank, and the Agricultural Development Bank among other partners, with the aim of connecting stakeholders to innovative opportunities within the agric sector.

On his part, Alhaji Alhassan Shani Shaibu, the Northern Regional Minister, urged the private sector to support players in agriculture, especially in northern Ghana to enhance food production to reduce poverty.

He added that though Agriculture is the backbone of Ghana’s economy, which accounts for over 74 percent of northern Ghana’s employment, the rich and diverse agricultural potential of the region remains untapped.

Mr Dan Sackey, the Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, said Ecobank had shown commitment by supporting a farmer-based organisation with membership of 1,800 out of which 45 percent were women.

He gave the assurance that Ecobank would continue to work with farmers to augment food security in the country.

Meanwhile it was made known to FiilaNews that the Banvum Lana, Naa Alhaji Mahama Abdulai II, has made available a 10 acre of land which had been registered in the name of agrihouse Foundation, the organizers of the the preharvest , to help open the intended multi purpose agriculture institute for farmers to improve agriculture.
