N/R Police administration interdicts six (6) officers involved in Lamashegu shootout

The Northern Regional police administration has interdicted six police officers involved in a shootout at Lamashegu , a suburb of Tamale.

It follows an initial investigation into the shooting incident that occurred yesterday Sunday 13 February, 2022 at about 1300hours which led to a subsequent attack on the Police by the youth of the Lamashegu community.

In a release copied to FiilaNews and signed by the Regional Police Public Affairs Director DCOP KWESI OFORI, the interdicted officers include; General Corporal Samson Kweku Darfour, General Corporal Prosper Mormesimu, General Constable Harrison Twum Danso (Driver), General Constable Nuhu Muntari, PW/Constable Doris Serwa Bonsu and General Constable Mathew Sah.

The release further noted the Police Administration has dispatched a team of investigators led by the Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID),with assistance from the Police Professional Standards Bureau to lead investigations into the matter.

The Northern Regional Police Commander on the other hand is to liaise with the affected families and offer them the necessary support in line with Police Requlations.

Meanwhile the release is appealing to the people of Lamashegu and the entire Tamale Metropolis to remain calm as the investigation continues into the unfortunate occurrence.

It assured the public that anyone found culpable will be dealt with according to the law.
